LAUREN PHELPS

Commissions

“There are effortless moments that take your breath away. That's what I hope to capture with my artwork- real expression and emotion. I think we all have vivid early memories, where nothing remarkable happened, but it mattered to us at that moment, and that's what's unique about childhood- seeing the magic in the everyday.”

ARTWORK

“My goal is to tell a story of a special time in a lasting and tangible way. I want to preserve the innocence of childhood and the emotion of a moment.”

Every commission begins as a conversation with the artist. A sitting with the artist is scheduled at our studio at the historic National Arts Club in New York City when possible.

Occasionally there are travel dates posted. To be the first to know about new dates, subscribe to our list here.

Due to demand, the waitlist typically fills one or two years in advance. The image reference process can begin before your reservation date so that we can capture your desired age without delay.

PROCESS

1. A reservation deposit is required to secure a position on the waitlist. Artwork may be decided closer to the commission date.

2. Photo reference creation and selection is a collaborative process. A sitting date with the artist is scheduled, or the artist communicates directly with your local photographer of choice to produce the needed imagery.

3. An initial draft sketch is sent for approval. One or two reports will be shared towards the end of the process to allow room for reasonable changes at your request.
